Russia has significantly stepped up its strikes against Ukraine, using more than 800 guided aerial bombs, 460 attack drones and 20 missiles of various types over the past week. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his Telegram message on Friday, 24 November.
Scale of attacks
According to Zelenskyy, air raid warnings have been heard almost daily across Ukraine this week. Last night alone, air defence forces shot down about 50 attack drones launched by the Russian military.
“Ukraine is not a testing ground for weapons. Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state. But Russia continues its attempts to destroy our people, sow fear and panic, and weaken us,” Zelenskyy stressed.
The need to strengthen defence
The President stressed that Ukraine needs more air defence equipment and said that the state is actively working on this issue together with international partners.
These attacks demonstrate the continued pressure on Ukraine’s defence and the importance of strengthening air defence capabilities to protect civilians and the country’s critical infrastructure.
