President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine, together with Europe, the United States and other partners, can end the war by ensuring a just and lasting peace. The head of state made this statement on 16 February on his social media channels.
According to him, Russia continues its aggression because the war is a tool to maintain power in the country. Over the past week alone, the Russian army has carried out massive strikes on the territory of Ukraine, using about 1,220 aircraft bombs, more than 850 kamikaze drones and more than 40 missiles of various types.
“Ukraine is defending itself, we are standing and fighting thanks to the courage of our soldiers and the support of our partners, but we need more air defence systems to protect people’s lives,” Zelenskyy said.
The President also stressed that the world must be prepared for such threats by pursuing a common foreign policy and putting increased pressure on the Kremlin.
“Together with Europe, the United States and all our partners, we are able to end this war with a just and lasting peace,” Zelenskyy concluded.
