Most European leaders support Ukraine’s accession to NATO, but the United States, Germany, Hungary, and Slovakia have not yet expressed full agreement. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a commentary to the Turkish Anadolu Agency on 19 February.

Zelenskyy stressed that it is Washington’s position that plays a crucial role in shaping the attitude of other NATO countries to Ukraine’s membership.
Turkey supports Ukraine
The President of Ukraine also thanked Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan for supporting Kyiv’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.
Security and economy
“If NATO is not an option, then what kind of security guarantees are we talking about?” Zelenskyy asked, stressing that the Ukrainian army is strong but needs a constant supply of weapons and funding.
In addition, the President stressed the importance of Ukraine’s economic security and said that it was necessary to join the European Union.
