President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Chris Coons to discuss the current situation in Ukraine, U.S. support, peace initiatives, and Donald Trump’s ceasefire proposal. The Head of State announced this on his official Telegram channel.

“President Trump’s ceasefire initiative could be a step towards a decent peace. But Russia’s latest attacks show that the Kremlin does not seek peace, but only escalates,” Zelenskyy stressed.

New sanctions against Russia are a response to terror

The President emphasised the importance of the bill by Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal, which increases sanctions pressure on Moscow. The document provides for strict restrictions on Russia’s access to finance, technology and military components.

“This draft law can make it impossible to increase Russian terror. I thank the senators for supporting this initiative,” Zelenskyy said.

Defence partnership: weapons and joint production

The Head of State expressed special gratitude for the bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress and for the defence assistance provided by the United States to Ukraine. He also expressed readiness to expand cooperation in defence production:

“Ukraine is ready to buy American weapons and produce Ukrainian weapons together with the United States. Such an approach will strengthen the national interests of both states,” the President stressed.
