Zelenskyy presents a new government: Svyrydenko is a new candidate for prime minister, Shmyhal will head the Defence Ministry


During a closed meeting of the Servant of the People faction with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the leadership of the parliament and the President’s Office, the new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was presented, as well as the candidacy of Yulia Svyrydenko for the post of Prime Minister.

This was announced by the chairman of the faction, David Arakhamia, noting that the country is at a new stage in the struggle for independence, which requires internal transformation, strengthening of the government team and diplomatic activity.

“We in the faction support the candidacy of Yulia Svyrydenko as a professional capable of leading the government in a difficult period,” Arakhamia stressed.

The renewed government will include:

  • Yulia Sviridenko is the Prime Minister;
  • Mykhailo Fedorov is the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation;
  • Oleksiy Kuleba is the Minister of Infrastructure and Territories;
  • Taras Kachka is the Minister of European Integration;
  • Herman Galushchenko is the Minister of Justice;
  • Svitlana Hrynchuk is the Minister of Energy;
  • Denys Shmyhal is the Minister of Defence;
  • Matvey Bidnyi, Natalia Kalmykova, Igor Klimenko, Oksen Lisovyi, Viktor Lyashko, Sergey Marchenko, and Andrey Sibiga are either retained or transferred to new positions.

Structural changes are also planned:

  • merger of the Ministry of Social Policy and the Ministry of National Unity (headed by Denis Ulyutin),
  • creation of a single Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture (to be headed by Oleksiy Sobolev).

The appointment of the Minister of Culture is still under discussion.

“The Parliament will consider the proposed candidates in the near future,” Arakhamia concluded.
