Preparation and security measures
According to Zheleznov, the hostage transfer site has already been cordoned off by representatives of both sides of the conflict. The Red Cross is coordinating the process with both sides to ensure maximum security during the operation.
The IDF (Israeli Defence Forces) is also monitoring the Nusairat area to be prepared for the immediate evacuation of the released hostages by helicopter after they are handed over.
The context of the negotiations
The hostage swap is part of a broader plan brokered by Qatar and Egypt. It aims to gradually release the detainees in exchange for easing some conditions for the civilian population of Gaza.
Negotiations between Israel and Hamas are currently ongoing, with discussions on the possibility of releasing more hostages in the coming days.
What’s next?
It is expected that after the transfer, the released hostages will undergo an initial medical examination on the spot, after which they will be evacuated to Israeli hospitals for further treatment and psychological rehabilitation.
The situation remains tense, but the Red Cross’s involvement provides a certain level of security for all those involved in this delicate operation.
Stay tuned for more details from the scene as they become available soon.
