Israeli paratroopers are not just watching the Syrian border – they are acting. This week, soldiers of the IDF Parachute Brigade, under the command of the 210th Division, conducted a targeted raid in Syria, where they destroyed a strategically important facility – a former military base of the Assad regime.
Old weapons – a new threat
The facility, which was previously used as the headquarters of the Syrian army, has become a real warehouse of forgotten but potentially dangerous arsenals. Israeli troops discovered and neutralised malfunctioning tanks, armoured personnel carriers and artillery pieces. However, the most alarming thing is the dozens of missiles and mortars that were still in service.
“These systems, although decommissioned, could have easily fallen into the hands of militants and been used against Israel,” the IDF said.
Clearing the border of threats
The operation was part of an ongoing strategy to neutralise potential threats accumulating on the Syrian direction, especially near the Golan Heights, where pro-Iranian groups have become more active in recent months.
“We don’t wait for danger to knock on our door – we meet it and neutralise it at the doorstep,” comments one of the officers.
IDF acts decisively – and not for the first time
This is not the first time that Israeli forces have conducted operations beyond the state border to destroy potential footholds for attacks. The Syrian territory, weakened by the war, is increasingly becoming a zone of influence for various groups, including Hezbollah and Iranian proxies.
No compromises in the north
Israel clearly defines the boundaries of what is acceptable: no weapons depots near the border, no chance for terrorists. And as long as the situation in the region remains tense, the IDF will not stop.
The paratroopers’ raid is not only a tactical victory, but also a signal that the security of the residents of the Golan Heights and the entire north of Israel is under reliable protection.
