Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, has spoken out against those who criticize women for wearing hijabs, labeling them as “enemies of Islam.” Putin’s loyal foot soldier in Chechnya has threatened them with retribution.

Ramzan Kadyrov has taken on the role of a defender of the Muslim faith and publicly supported the wearing of the hijab. In his address, he stated that he would shoot anyone who tried to tell his daughter to remove her hijab.

“Anyone who tells my daughter to take off her hijab, I will kill immediately. I will shoot them straight away, whoever it is. This is an enemy, my personal enemy, an enemy of Islam,” Kadyrov said.

At the same time, he emphasized that Chechnya is against the wearing of the burqa, which covers a woman’s face.

Kadyrov also noted that in Chechnya, they do not pay attention to the clothes that visitors to the republic wear, but they are very concerned about the form of clothing of local residents.

Conflict with the Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia

Recently, Kadyrov got into a dispute with the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin. Bastrykin stated that the country urgently needs to ban the wearing of niqabs, citing recent terrorist attacks in Dagestan and the hostage-taking at a detention center in Rostov-on-Don. In response, Kadyrov noted that “Muslims did not commit terrorist acts” and that Islam should not be confused with terrorism.

Kadyrov’s Family Matters

It is worth noting that journalists have discovered that Kadyrov married off his underage son to a 14-year-old relative.

This information raises many questions and criticism both within Russia and beyond its borders. Threats of retribution and interference in family matters only highlight Kadyrov’s authoritarian style of governance in Chechnya and his influence on the Muslim community.
