On Sunday, Ukrainian military officials reported that Russia launched multiple missiles and drones targeting northern and eastern Ukraine. According to Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ukrainian air defense systems successfully intercepted most of the projectiles before they could reach their targets.

The attack was directed at Ukraine’s border regions, including Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk, as stated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“Most of the missiles were successfully intercepted,” Ukrainian officials reported, adding that Russia had launched an “Iskander-M” ballistic missile, an “Iskander-K” cruise missile, and six air-to-air guided missiles. The exact number of intercepted missiles was not disclosed.

Additionally, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched nine attack drones, eight of which were shot down by Ukrainian air defenses over the Mykolaiv region.

In the Kharkiv region, seven people, including a 4-year-old child, were injured by Russian strikes, according to Governor Oleh Synyehubov on Telegram. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov added that a gas pipeline was damaged in the city, with at least two houses destroyed and ten more damaged.

Reuters was unable to independently verify these reports, and Russia has not yet commented.

Both sides deny targeting civilians in the conflict, which Russia escalated with a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
