Over the past week, Russian troops have carried out large-scale attacks on Ukrainian territory, using aerial bombs, attack drones and missiles of various types. The total number of attacks exceeded two thousand.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday (26 January) that the country had been hit by 1, 250 aerial bombs, more than 750 attack drones and more than 20 missiles of various types.
“Over the past week, Ukraine has suffered hundreds of Russian attacks with various types of weapons. This proves once again that only determination can stop such terrorists,” the Head of State stressed.
Zelenskyy added that the Ukrainian side is working tirelessly with international partners to strengthen defence capabilities and reduce Russia’s ability to continue its aggression.
“Long-range is important. Sanctions are important. Reducing the price of oil is important. The main thing is to act unitedly and decisively to protect the lives of Ukrainians,” the President stressed.
The determination of Ukraine and its partners
The President emphasised the importance of further strengthening sanctions against Russia, limiting its energy revenues and supplying modern weapons for defence. Particular attention is paid to long-range weapons systems that will allow for more effective mitigation of threats from the aggressor.
Despite the large-scale attacks, the Ukrainian Defence Forces remain a strong barrier to the enemy, restraining the advance of Russian troops and minimising the consequences of terrorist attacks.
