7 March 2025 – A new massive Russian attack, which lasted from night to morning, has hit energy facilities and gas infrastructure in various regions of Ukraine. Authorities report injuries, destruction and the threat of gas supply restrictions.

Kyiv region:

In Kyiv region, the air alert lasted for almost nine hours, with air defences repelling enemy drone attacks. According to the acting head of the JFO, Mykola Kalashnyk, there were no direct hits on critical infrastructure and no civilian casualties.

However, the debris from the downed drones caused a grass floor to catch fire in Obukhiv and Boryspil districts, and the fires were promptly extinguished. A truck was also damaged.

Kharkiv:

Eight people were injured in Kharkiv this morning as a result of an Iskander missile strike. This was reported by the mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov. A critical infrastructure facility was damaged, which led to interruptions in heating supply in eight apartment buildings with more than 670 subscribers.

Five cars, ten garages and an apartment in a high-rise building caught fire as a result of the strike. More than 30 private houses were also damaged.

Ternopil region:

A shell hit a critical industrial facility in Ternopil region, said Vyacheslav Nehoda, head of the JMA. There were no casualties, but there are warnings of possible gas supply restrictions.

Air defence systems shot down an enemy missile over the region, and work is underway to eliminate the consequences and stabilise the power system.

Attacks on Naftogaz:

This is the 17th attack on Naftogaz Group facilities by Russia. According to Roman Chumak, CEO of Naftogaz, this time gas production facilities were damaged. There were no casualties, and emergency services are working to eliminate the consequences to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to the country.

Commentary by the Minister of Energy:

Ukraine’s Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko stressed that these strikes were aimed primarily at civilians:

“Russia is trying to leave Ukrainians without electricity and heat by shelling energy and gas facilities to inflict maximum pain on ordinary people.”

Defence forces continue to protect the airspace, and emergency crews are working to restore power and gas networks across the country.
