This morning, on Friday, 28 March 2025, shells were fired from Lebanon towards the Upper Galilee region in northern Israel. This was reported by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). This attack was called a “blatant violation” of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon, which poses a direct threat to the civilian population of Israel.

The IDF statement emphasised that the state of Lebanon is fully responsible for the observance of agreements and control over its territory. “Any aggression emanating from Lebanese territory is unacceptable, and we will act decisively to protect our citizens,” the army said.

Earlier today, Israel struck a terrorist infrastructure facility in the Dahiyeh neighbourhood of Beirut, which is a key centre of activity for the Hezbollah terrorist organisation. Given the tense situation in Lebanon, the IDF reported that the facility was used by Hezbollah’s Air Force (127) to store unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The strike was carried out after careful planning, and the civilian population in the area was warned in advance by the Israeli military.

The IDF accused Hezbollah of systematically placing its terrorist infrastructure among Lebanese civilians. “This is a clear example of Hezbollah’s cynical use of Lebanese citizens as human shields,” the statement said. Such actions, according to the Israeli military, only worsen the security of the Lebanese themselves and put them in danger.

“The Israeli Defence Forces will continue to act decisively to eliminate any threat to the civilian population of the State of Israel,” the IDF stressed. The military also called on the international community to pay attention to Hezbollah’s aggressive actions and the Lebanese government’s responsibility for what is happening on its territory in Lebanon.

There are currently no reports of casualties or damage as a result of the shelling of the Upper Galilee. The situation on Israel’s northern border remains tense, and the IDF is on high alert to respond to further provocations from Lebanon.
