Eshkol, Israel – On 26 February, Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas, who were kidnapped by Hamas on 7 October and killed in captivity, will be buried in the cemetery near Moshav Tzohar, Walla reports.
Family and friends will say goodbye to the young mother and her two young sons in the deep grief that has engulfed the entire Israeli community.
Kibbutz Nir Oz in mourning: the endless tragedy continues
Residents of the Nir Oz kibbutz, from which the Bibas family was abducted, are experiencing another blow. On 25 February, Oded Lifshitz, another hostage whose body was returned with the Bibas family’s, was buried there.
Renana Gome, a mother of two who was released from captivity in November, said:
“These are difficult days for the community of Nir Oz and for all of Israel. Burying a young mother with two children is heartbreaking.”
She also criticised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for not coming to inspect the house from which Shiri and her children were abducted.
Meirav Cohen, a resident of Kibbutz Ein HaShlosh, cannot find the words to express her pain:
“There are no words in Hebrew to describe these feelings. This is a heartbreaking day. We can’t process the fact that a mother and her two young children were killed. We must bring everyone back and put an end to this endless tragedy.”
A tragedy that united Israel in grief
The murder of the Bibas family has become one of the most painful symbols of the 7 October tragedy. Israel is still fighting for the return of all hostages, and society continues to live in the shadow of pain, loss and uncertainty.
Today’s burial will be another reminder of the brutal reality of the ongoing war.
