An attempted smuggling of cigarette manufacturing equipment through the Rava-Ruska checkpoint was prevented in Lviv region. According to the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, a VOLVO truck tried to import a disassembled cigarette line from Poland. The shipping documents stated that the goods were being transported as equipment for packaging, but did not specify what was being packaged.
During the inspection, law enforcement officers found machines for packing tobacco products into packs and equipment for making paper cigarette packs. The equipment was intended for a private company in Odesa region. It has now been seized and forensic examinations are planned.
This is not the first time smuggling has been uncovered in Volyn. Earlier, the BES officers in Volyn region detained a group of people involved in the sale of contraband goods, and one of the suspects was arrested.
