The Sumy region witnessed an incredible feat of heroism. In the village of Vysoke, Okhtyrka district, a pregnant mother rescued three children from a burning house. Her courage and quick actions prevented a tragedy. The incident was reported by Time Ukraine Israel, citing the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).
The critical moment
The incident occurred in the evening when the 30-year-old owner and her three children aged 3, 10 and 12 were in the house. The alarm was raised by the middle daughter, who was the first to notice the smoke. The flames spread rapidly: the bathroom caught fire and the kitchen was enveloped in thick smoke. The plastic ceiling began to melt, and the situation became increasingly dangerous.
A heroic rescue
The owner did not panic. She grabbed a fire extinguisher and tried to extinguish the fire herself, but in vain – the flames were spreading too fast. Rescuing her children, the woman carried her three-year-old son in her arms, while her 10- and 12-year-old daughters ran out of the house on their own.
After handing the children over to neighbours, the mother immediately returned to the burning house to call rescuers. Her coolness and selflessness proved crucial at this critical moment.
Liquidation operation
Nine rescuers with two pieces of equipment arrived at the scene. Thanks to the prompt work of the SES, the fire was contained and prevented from spreading to neighbouring buildings. According to preliminary information, the fire was caused by a short circuit in the power grid.
An example of courage and lessons for all
This story is a testament to how a mother’s love and determination can prevail even in the most dangerous circumstances. The pregnant mother risked her life, but did not leave her children in trouble.
At the same time, this incident reminds us of the importance of complying with fire safety rules. Timely inspection of power grids is especially important to prevent such tragedies in the future.
