Emergency power cuts introduced in Ukraine due to massive missile strike

On 15 January, Ukraine faced another wave of Russian terror: due to a massive enemy missile attack, emergency power cuts were introduced in a number of regions.

“The enemy does not stop terrorising Ukrainians,” Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said in a Facebook post. He noted that the transmission system operator was forced to take preventive measures to protect the energy infrastructure.

Areas where restrictions are imposed

Emergency power cuts were introduced in Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and Kirovohrad regions.

The Minister urged citizens to stay in shelters and closely monitor official reports on the situation in the regions.

Massive attack and general air raid alert

As a reminder, an air alert was declared throughout Ukraine. Russian troops launched X-101 missiles from TU-95MS bombers, posing a threat to critical infrastructure.

Air defence forces continue to fight the threat, while power engineers are working to stabilise the power supply system.
