The first healthcare facility in the system of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has been granted the status of a reintegration centre for servicemen released from captivity. This was announced by Defence Minister Rustem Umerov on his Facebook profile.
The centre, located in the central region, already provides medical, rehabilitation and psychological assistance to soldiers who have returned from captivity. This status was granted by an order of the Ministry of Defence, which underscores the importance of supporting the military in their adaptation after severe trials.
Umerov noted that the Reintegration Centre is a specialised complex that combines all the necessary services in one place. These include medical care, rehabilitation, psychological support, as well as assistance in obtaining certificates and restoring documents.
The centre is currently designed for 100 beds, but can be expanded to 200 or more with additional rehabilitation beds. The minister noted that the first suggestions and wishes have already been received from servicemen and medical staff, which will be taken into account by the Ministry of Defence’s Healthcare Department.
This step will be an important step in supporting servicemen who have survived the experience of captivity and will help them successfully return to civilian life.
