On 22 November, an incident took place in Hebron that shocked the military and the public: dozens of Jewish extremists attacked the commander of the IDF Central Military District, Major General Avi Blut. The attackers chased him and a group of officers, insulted him and shouted insults at Blut and the entire IDF, Time Ukraine Israel reported, citing Vesty.
Extremists accused the general of treason
As Blut and his escort were moving towards the place of the operational mission, a group of hooligans blocked their way. Shouting accusations of treason, they insulted the general and all the officers. Among the harshest words were accusations that Blut had allegedly betrayed his compatriots. However, the major general himself was not physically injured.
Rapid police response and detention of suspects
Following the incident, General Blut immediately contacted the police, and within a short time, the Judea and Samaria District Police were on the scene. As a result of the operation, the police arrested five suspects involved in the attack. The remaining participants in the incident were dispersed within minutes.
IDF strongly condemns violence
The IDF press service responded to the events by emphasising that the army categorically condemns any acts of violence against its soldiers. The statement said that such attacks on army commanders, which impede the performance of their duties, are unacceptable. The command of the Central District stressed that despite all attempts by extremists to interfere with their work, the army would continue to carry out its tasks.
Escalation of the situation in Hebron
This incident only highlights the existing tensions between the military and some radical groups in the region. The Hebron incident showed how important it is to maintain control of the situation and ensure the safety of the military, which is carrying out its work in a high-risk environment.
