Israel seizes 38 smuggled weapons, including M16s and Kalashnikovs

Israeli law enforcement officers, together with army units, seized 38 pieces of smuggled weapons during a special operation in the city of Afula. As a result, three suspects were detained, residents of the village of Zarzir, west of Nazareth, The Jerusalem Post reports.

Operation with special services

The event was conducted by officers of the Central Investigation Unit of the Northern District of the Israeli Police together with soldiers of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) intelligence units from the Bekaa and Emekim Brigades. During the operation, security forces searched two vehicles in the northern city of Afula, where they found a significant arsenal of illegal weapons.

Arsenal of confiscated weapons

The seized weapons include 34 pistols, two Kalashnikovs and two M16 rifles. According to preliminary information, the weapons could have been used for illegal sale or criminal activity.

Combating the illicit arms trade

Police said the operation is part of a broader fight against the proliferation of illegal weapons in the country. The seizure of a significant arsenal will contribute to enhancing security and reducing violence associated with the illicit trafficking of firearms.
