On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu underwent surgery to remove his prostate after being diagnosed with a urinary tract infection caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. This was reported by the press service of the Prime Minister, Ynet reports.
The procedure, known as a prostatectomy, was performed at Hadassah Medical Centre in Jerusalem. Before the operation, Netanyahu was treated with antibiotics for several days to reduce infection.
The operation lasted about an hour and a half and, according to the doctors, was successful. The Prime Minister will have several days of recovery ahead, during which his condition will remain under medical supervision.
It is noteworthy that before his hospitalisation, Netanyahu chaired a weekly government meeting, demonstrating his willingness to perform his duties even in poor health.
This surgery was another medical intervention for the Israeli leader this year: in July, he was implanted with a pacemaker, and in March, he underwent a hernia procedure.
