Israel, 18 October – Police and the General Security Service (Shabak) have successfully neutralised an attempted terrorist attack by a 22-year-old resident of the Sheikh Jerah neighbourhood in East Jerusalem. According to Israel’s Channel 9, the suspect was arrested on 17 September, and the investigation has been ongoing since then.

During the interrogation, the young man confessed that he intended to obtain explosives to make bombs that he planned to detonate in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. He considered an event in support of the families of hostages taken hostage by Hamas as one of the possible locations for the attack.

He claimed that his goal was to “kill many people in retaliation for Gaza and Hamas”. As it became known, the suspect created a group in one of the social networks called “Soldiers of the Almighty” and recorded a video message in case of his death.

Today, 18 October, the Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office plans to file an indictment against him. This case underscores the seriousness of the terrorist threats that constantly loom over the country, as well as the effectiveness of the Israeli security services in preventing such crimes.

The situation in the region remains tense, and this incident once again underscores the importance of security and the readiness of law enforcement agencies to respond to terrorist threats. Our country must remain vigilant to protect its citizens from potential dangers.
