A massive Russian missile and drone attack on Kryvyi Rih on 3 April killed at least 19 people, including nine children. Sixty-eight civilians were wounded, 40 of them hospitalised, and two children aged 5 and 8 were taken to Mechnikov Hospital in critical condition. Doctors are fighting for their lives around the clock.

This was reported by Oleksandr Vilkul, chairman of the Kryvyi Rih Defence Council, adding that the victims included residents aged from three-month-old babies to the elderly.

“Doctors are fighting for their lives and providing all the necessary assistance,” Vilkul stressed.

The strike destroyed 34 apartment buildings, 6 educational institutions, shops, business facilities, private homes and cars. Critical infrastructure facilities were also damaged. Emergency and rescue operations lasted all night and ended at 02:45.

This strike was one of the most massive in recent times and caused a wide response both in Ukraine and abroad. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already called on the international community to increase pressure on Russia and provide more air defence systems to protect civilians.
