Work is underway in Vinnytsia to clean up a serious accident at the main water supply system that occurred on Saturday night. This was reported by Vinnytsia Vodokanal on Sunday, 19 January.
According to the utility, the damage occurred on a 900 mm diameter pipe, which caused it to shift. “On a scale of 10, the situation is 12,” the water utility commented.
Despite nightly efforts, the repairs were not completed. “Around 11am, we completed the welding work and even started filling the water supply system with water. But the pipe joint burst again, and we had to start welding from scratch,” the statement said.
The utility said it was making every effort to fix the problem. However, even after the repairs are completed, it will take at least four hours to fill the eight-kilometre water supply system and stabilise the working pressure.
