On the night of 23 June, almost 17,000 people, including more than a thousand children, took refuge in the Kyiv metro during a massive Russian air attack. This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration with reference to the Kyiv Metro.
According to the Kyiv City State Administration, as a result of the night shelling, a number of city infrastructure facilities were damaged, including exit 8 of the Svyatoshyn metro station in the direction of Chornobaivska Square. The exit is currently closed, and repair work is underway with the participation of more than 20 metro workers and special equipment.
The city administration reminds that 46 underground metro stations in the capital are operating around the clock in a sheltered mode. During the air raid, all lobbies are open and staff on duty are on the platform.
Chairs, modular benches and blankets are provided at the stations for people’s comfort. However, metro workers urge people to bring extra warm clothes.
