Odesa resident served a notice of suspicion of organising terrorist attack in Kyiv

Under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, the Odesa resident was served a notice of suspicion of committing a terrorist act (Part 1 Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to the investigation, the man came to Kyiv to carry out a terrorist attack ordered via Telegram. The target of the explosion was an administrative building in the Darnytskyi district of the capital. This was reported by the TimeUkraineIsrael portal with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The suspect, who had no specific information about the building, received only the geolocation. According to the man, he threw an improvised explosive device filled with nails over the fence and then remotely activated it. Expecting numerous casualties, he detonated the explosion in the daytime, but fortunately, no one was injured.

The masterminds of the terrorist act promised the suspect a reward of about two thousand US dollars, but he never received the promised funds. In the course of further investigation, law enforcement officers detained him in Odesa when he purchased materials for the manufacture of another explosive device. Other persons who may have been involved in this crime are being identified, and the suspect’s links to other terrorist acts are being checked.

The man has been detained as a measure of restraint. The pre-trial investigation is conducted by the SBU investigators under the operational support of the SBU Left Bank District Department in Kyiv and Kyiv region.
