Unexpected incident in Tel Aviv
The Tel Aviv District Court announced charges against a 41-year-old resident of Rehovot who, using forged documents, got a job in a security company and received a firearm. This is reported by the news portal TimeUkraineIsrael with reference to Israelinfo.
A sophisticated deception plan
According to the prosecution, the suspect planned a sophisticated operation, impersonating another person, using a variety of false documents and technology to cover his tracks. The man applied to a security company allegedly for employment, providing a fake identity card in the name of a real citizen, indicating a false address and a temporary phone number.
Fake documents and successful acceptance
The defendant sent false documents and certificates to the HR department, including a fake medical certificate and bank statement, and passed all stages of the recruitment process, including a shooting range and psychological tests, under a false name. At no stage was his identity and documents checked and he was hired.
Disappearance and reporting to the police
The man received a firearms licence, a security guard certificate, a pistol and two magazines. After that, he disappeared without a trace. The surprised employer turned to the police, after which it turned out that other people lived at the address, and the personal data in the fake “teudat zeut” belonged to a completely unrelated person.
Forged documents: a dangerous fraudulent scheme
Representatives of the hospital fund and Apoalim Bank confirmed that the documents submitted by the defendant were forged: the doctor indicated in the documents did not exist, and the bank account did not belong to the suspect. The police were able to track down and detain the man, who completely denied his guilt despite the CCTV footage and witness statements.
Safety and liability issues
During the interrogations, he insisted on his right to remain silent and refused to watch the video recordings. During a confrontation with the security company, he also claimed that they had made a mistake. The gun and ammunition have not yet been recovered, raising concerns about the safety and reliability of security screening.
This incident highlights the importance of thoroughly checking documents and identities when hiring, especially in security-related areas. It raises the question of what measures should be taken to improve vetting procedures to avoid similar situations in the future.
