The body of Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna, who died in Russian captivity, was returned to Ukraine without a number of internal organs, including the brain, eyes and part of the trachea. This is stated in the investigation “Project Victoria”, published by Ukrayinska Pravda in cooperation with Forbidden Stories.

According to the investigation, Roshchyna’s body was transferred on 14 February 2025 under the number 757, along with the bodies of the fallen Ukrainian soldiers. The documents listed her as an “unidentified male”. During the examination in Ukraine, experts found several organs missing, making it difficult to establish the exact cause of death.

Commenting on the situation, the international expert noted that the absence of some organs could have been aimed at concealing the fact of death as a result of suffocation or strangulation. The official cause of death stated by the Russian side was ‘total damage to the arteries of the heart’.

As a reminder, Victoria Roshchyna disappeared in August 2023 during a trip to the temporarily occupied territories. In October 2024, it became known that she had died in Russian captivity. The Russian side has postponed the return of her body several times, which, according to Ukrainian officials, may indicate attempts to hide the traces of possible crimes.
