A 60-year-old woman was killed and 17 other people were wounded in a morning attack by Russian troops in Odesa. Among the injured are a pregnant woman and a 17-year-old girl, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, said on Telegram.
“Unfortunately, the body of a 60-year-old woman was found under the rubble. I express my sincere condolences to the family,” Kiper said.
According to him, the search is ongoing for another woman who may be trapped under the rubble. Rescuers and emergency services are working at the scene.
The attack hit the historic centre of Odesa. Residential buildings, a kindergarten and an inclusive centre were destroyed. One of the victims was hospitalised, while the rest were treated on an outpatient basis.
Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov stressed the value of the affected area:
“The historic centre is the character of Odesa. Every creak of the floor here has its own history… The enemy hit a densely built-up residential area.”
Law enforcement agencies are documenting another war crime of the Russian Federation against civilians.
