Officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) detained a member of an international drug syndicate wanted by Interpol for six years. The operation was conducted in Lviv region after SSU counterintelligence established his whereabouts. This was reported by the Time Ukraine Israel portal, citing the SSU press service.

The offender is a citizen of one of the European countries and was a member of an organised criminal group engaged in smuggling and selling drugs and psychotropic substances in the European Union. He fled to Ukraine, hoping to avoid punishment.

However, due to the coordinated work of the Ukrainian special services, a multi-stage special operation was conducted, which allowed to stop the criminal plans of the defendant. The detainee is currently in custody, and the issue of his extradition to the country that put him on the international wanted list will be decided in the near future.

The operation was carried out jointly with the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, which once again underlines the effectiveness of law enforcement cooperation at the national and international levels.
