The Security Service of Ukraine and cyber police conducted a successful special operation in Kharkiv, during which they detained a 47-year-old Kharkiv resident, the CEO of a Russian company that cooperates with Roscosmos in launching spy satellites Condor-FKA and Obzor-R. These satellites are used by the Russian military and space forces for reconnaissance, fire control and positioning of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
The offender was an active participant in the Kremlin’s resettlement programme to Russia before the outbreak of full-scale war and had direct contact with the senior leadership of the aggressor’s military and space forces. He was responsible for calibrating and adjusting satellites, and organised the transfer of his company’s test site to the Russian military.
During the searches, the law enforcement seized a Russian passport, computer equipment, mobile phones with evidence of his criminal activity, as well as significant amounts of money in the hryvnia equivalent received for cooperation with the occupiers.
The detainee confessed to his activities and is currently in custody, he faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. The SSU is continuing the investigation to bring to justice all persons involved in aiding the aggressor.
The operation was conducted by the SSU and the Cybercrime Department in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, demonstrating the effectiveness of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies in combating hostile activities in the country.
