The Israeli security service Shin Bet and the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) prevented a terrorist attack planned by a terrorist group from Ramallah. The militants, affiliated with Fatah and Hamas, intended to carry out an explosion on a passenger bus in Jerusalem, The Jerusalem Post reports.
According to an official statement, the terrorist group was eliminated during special operations in November-December 2024. The detainees include Ahmed Jasser Ali, Mander Sheikh Kassem, Bashir Awad, Ammar Subah and Ali Shviki. Some of them had previously participated in armed attacks against IDF personnel in the West Bank.
According to the Shin Bet, the militants were not only planning a large-scale terrorist attack in Jerusalem, but were also engaged in the manufacture and storage of weapons. They have already been formally charged with participation in an illegal armed group, possession and production of weapons.
The Shin Bet operation once again demonstrates the high efficiency of the Israeli security services in the fight against terrorism that threatens civilians in the region.
