An incident that shocked local residents took place at the Maidan Nezalezhnosti metro station in Kyiv: A 45-year-old man robbed a student, stealing her laptop from her shoulder bag, according to Evening Kyiv.
The girl turned to law enforcement after she noticed that her device was missing. The police quickly established that a local resident was involved in the crime.
According to the Kyiv Police Communication Department, the perpetrator apparently watched the girl in the carriage before quietly approaching her, taking her laptop and leaving the train.
Thanks to the prompt actions of law enforcement officers, the laptop will soon be returned to its owner, and the detainee faces up to eight years in prison for committing theft under martial law.
This is not an isolated case: recently, a similar crime was reported in Kyiv, when a robber was sentenced to seven years behind bars for attacking a pensioner in a shop. Such situations underscore the importance of being cautious in public places.
