On Friday, 29 November, a terrorist attack took place in the West Bank, near the city of Ariel, injuring nine people. According to the Magen David Adom (MDA) organisation, three of the victims are in serious condition, one is in moderate condition, and the rest have minor injuries. This was reported by the Jerusalem Post.
One of the victims was taken to hospital in critical condition. Later it turned out that the victim was in a stable but serious condition.
According to MDA medical staff, when they arrived at the scene, three people were already near the bus, conscious and suffering from gunshot wounds. The rescuers immediately provided first aid, stopped the bleeding and transported the victims to hospital in stable condition. In addition, several other people were injured by glass shards and taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The Israeli army reported that the terrorist was neutralised thanks to the military’s prompt actions. Roadblocks were set up on the roads, and the area around the attack site was cordoned off and searched.
Initially, it was reported that there was a second terrorist, but later the military clarified that after a thorough search, this information was not confirmed.
The attacker was identified as 46-year-old Samer Hussein from the village of Einabus in the West Bank city of Nablus. According to Israeli media reports, Hussein was shot dead after opening fire on the bus passengers.
The attack caused another escalation of the situation in the West Bank, where violence between Palestinians and the Israeli military continues unabated.
