Due to the damage to the energy infrastructure during Russia’s massive attack on 28 November, three rounds of simultaneous power cuts will be applied in Ukraine until the end of the day. This was reported by Ukrenergo.
“Today, on 28 November, three phases of simultaneous outages will be applied to household consumers until the end of the day,” the company said in a statement.
Causes and measures
The reason for the increased restrictions was damage to power facilities during another massive drone attack, which was the 11th in a year. Facilities in several regions were damaged, and restoration work began immediately after the air raid was over.
Power engineers are working to repair the damaged equipment, but the time and scope of outages may vary depending on the state of the power system.
How outage schedules will work
Ukrenergo reminded that:
- Outage schedules are formed by regional power distribution companies, and the company only determines the number of queues.
- The use of three stages means that up to half of household consumers in each region will be subject to hourly outage schedules.
- One queue means 4 hours of restrictions per day, two queues – 8 hours, three queues – 12 hours.
Power engineers urged citizens to use electricity sparingly to reduce the load on the grid.
