A serious road accident occurred in the capital near the Vydubychi metro station: a Volvo truck overturned after flying off the Southern Bridge. This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service on 2 January.
Circumstances of the accident
According to preliminary information, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle due to a deterioration in his health. The vehicle slid off the bridge and overturned.
The rescuers promptly unblocked the driver from the cab and handed him over to paramedics. However, the man refused to be hospitalised.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine washed the fuel off the roadway to avoid further danger to other road users.
Law enforcement officers are working at the scene to establish all the circumstances of the incident. The reasons for the driver’s poor health will also be established as part of the investigation.
The accident caused temporary traffic congestion on the approaches to the South Bridge. Utilities continue to work to restore traffic.
