Earlier this week, US President-elect Donald Trump had a dinner with Sarah Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The event took place at Trump International Golf Course, as reported by Deputy Communications Director Margot Martin on X/Twitter on Monday night.

Sarah Netanyahu has been in Miami since last week and plans to stay for 20 days. She is expected to return to Israel in mid-December. Her son Yair Netanyahu is also in Miami, where he has lived since March 2023. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is preparing to testify in criminal trials that are scheduled to begin next week.

On Sunday, Prosecutor General Gali Baharav-Miara said that there were no legal grounds to declare the Prime Minister incapable of performing his duties during the testimony. Thus, his participation in the court hearings remains unchanged.

Warm relations between Netanyahu and Trump

Relations between Netanyahu and Trump have traditionally been considered close. After Trump’s victory in the presidential election on 5 November, the Israeli prime minister called it “the greatest political comeback in history”. He also noted that he had spoken with the newly elected US president on several occasions, discussing issues of strategic importance to Israel.

The dinner underscores the strong ties between the leaders, which could have a significant impact on future US-Israeli relations.
