On 4 November, a SpaceX-31 rocket was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, to carry an experiment by schoolchildren from Lviv region to study microgravity conditions. This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The team of Skole Secondary School No. 2 named after Stefania Vitruk presented an experiment called “Preparation of biomedical hydrogels in microgravity”. This project won the All-Ukrainian School Space Experiments Competition (SSEP), which aims to develop science and STEAM education to educate young scientists and inventors.
Winning the SSEP competition allowed the students to join the programme’s 18th mission and send their project to the International Space Station (ISS) with the support of the Nova Ukraine Charitable Foundation and the School To Go initiative. This is the third time that an experiment by Ukrainian schoolchildren led by the Junior Academy of Sciences (JAS) has gone into space.
SSEP is a unique programme that provides young scientists from around the world with the opportunity to conduct microgravity research, laying the foundation for future advances in space science.
