First Deputy Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev

As part of the new state aid programme announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, every Ukrainian will be able to receive UAH 1,000 on a special National Cashback card. This was announced by First Deputy Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev on Ukrainian TV channels, Time Ukraine Israel reports, citing Suspilne.

The financial assistance of UAH 1,000 is intended for all Ukrainians, regardless of age or social status, and will be credited to a virtual National Cashback card that can be easily opened through the Diia app. The First Deputy Minister explained that most popular banks are connected to the platform, so the card application procedure will be available to a wide range of users.

These funds can be used during the winter months to pay for utilities, medicines, transport, mobile communications, Ukrainian books and other services that will help support small and medium-sized businesses. In addition, Ukrainians will have the opportunity to direct this assistance to donations for the Armed Forces, Sobolev added.

Regarding the costs of implementing this programme, Sobolev noted that the final amount will depend on the number of citizens who decide to use the assistance. For comparison, during the COVID-19 pandemic, a similar support programme cost the state approximately UAH 8 billion.
