As of the morning of Tuesday, 17 December, 397 settlements in 16 regions of Ukraine were without power supply due to severe weather conditions (heavy rain, sleet and gusty winds). This was reported by the press service of Ukrenergo.
Most outages were recorded in Khmelnytskyi region. Repair crews are working in an intensive mode to eliminate the consequences of the bad weather. The power supply is expected to be restored by the end of the day.

According to the State Emergency Service, the number of de-energised settlements is slightly higher and amounts to 449 in 15 regions. The situation is as follows:

- Lviv region – 51
- Sumy region – 48
- Rivne region – 36
- Ternopil region – 34
- Zhytomyr region – 22
- Volyn region – 21
- Dnipropetrovska oblast – 13
- Kharkiv region – 11
- Donetsk region – 9
- Kirovograd region – 4
- Chernihiv region – 3
- Chernivtsi region – 3
- Kyiv region – 2
- Cherkasy region – 1
State of the power system
Ukrenergo emphasises that no hourly outage schedules are planned today, but the country’s power system continues to operate under conditions of a significant power deficit. In this regard, Ukrainians are urged to conserve electricity during peak load hours – from 8:00 to 22:00.
Electricity imports
Today, Ukraine imports electricity from five countries:
- Poland,
- Romania,
- Slovakia,
- Hungary,
- Moldova.
The total volume of imports per day is 20,903 MWh, and the maximum capacity in some hours reaches 1,151 MW.
Repair crews continue to work to restore power supply as soon as possible to reduce the discomfort for residents of the affected areas.
