President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid tribute to the victims of the nighttime Russian missile attack on a residential building in Kyiv.
The head of state announced this in Telegram.
“Today I was at the site where a Russian high-explosive missile hit a Kyiv high-rise building. I paid my respects to the victims. This vile attack on a building in the middle of the night took the lives of 23 civilians. My condolences to the families and friends. We continue to help all the victims,” the President noted.
Zelensky stressed that this shelling is another reminder to the world that Russia rejects ceasefire proposals and continues to kill civilians.
“I am grateful to all our partners who understand: Ukraine must become stronger every day. I am grateful to all those who are ready to put pressure on Moscow so that they feel the real price of war,” the President said.
According to the President’s website, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported to Zelenskyy that search and rescue operations at the site of the strike had been completed. More than 400 rescuers and more than 200 pieces of equipment were involved in the aftermath of the attack. More than 500 applications have already been received from residents of the building to document the loss of their homes.
The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, said that more than 1,000 people have applied for help at the district headquarters, where they are being provided with the necessary support.
Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Community and Territorial Development, reported that a technical inspection of the house is currently underway. If it is not possible to restore the building, people will be compensated for the destroyed housing.
As reported, on the night of 17 June, Russia launched a combined massive attack on Ukraine, firing 440 Shahed-type kamikaze drones and 32 missiles. In Kyiv, the shelling damaged residential buildings in eight districts of the city.
