Official Version of Death: “Combined Illness”
According to a statement from the Investigative Committee of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, Alexei Navalny’s death was attributed to a “combined illness” including arrhythmia and other conditions. The document claims that the death resulted from “arrhythmic disorders” of the heart, which supposedly caused sudden cardiac arrest.
Yulia Navalnaya: “It’s a Lie”
Yulia Navalnaya, the politician’s widow, strongly disputes the official version of the investigation. She stated that she received the report only last week, despite Alexei’s death occurring on February 16. She believes the investigation is hiding the true cause of his death. According to her, her husband was not taken to the medical unit after his health worsened but was returned to his isolation cell (SHIZO) where he died.
Lack of Evidence and Doubts on Diagnosis
Navalnaya also highlights the lack of crucial evidence such as surveillance footage and body camera recordings. She questions why the report does not mention Navalny’s complaints of severe abdominal pain and why surveillance footage, which could support her version of events, is not included.
Medical Experts: Doubts on Diagnosis
Medical professionals, including anesthesiologist Mikhail Fremderman, express doubts about the official medical diagnosis. They believe the arrhythmia diagnosis stated in the report is questionable, and that the autopsy results do not align with the document’s claims.
Suspicions of Political Interference
Navalny’s associates and his widow suspect that Russian President Vladimir Putin may be involved in his death. They believe that Navalny’s death could be part of a political maneuver related to a prisoner exchange between Russia and Western countries.
