Another disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting Ukraine and its military intelligence is being spread in the Armenian information space. According to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), propagandists are actively spreading fake news about the alleged involvement of the DIU in attempts to provoke a new armed conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the authors of the disinformation claim that the possible resumption of hostilities between Yerevan and Baku will force Russia to open a “second front” and thus disperse its military resources, which is allegedly beneficial to Ukraine.

The basis for the spread of this false information was a fake report attributed to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine addressed to Deputy Minister of Defence Ivan Havryliuk. The intelligence service emphasises that the document is an obvious forgery – it contains numerous gross errors, including incorrect spelling of the name (“Yvan” instead of Ivan), incorrect abbreviations (“SDR” instead of EDRPOU), and violations of the standards for the design of official documents of Ukraine.

The DIU emphasises that this information attack has a purpose:

– discredit Ukraine in the international arena;

– worsen Kyiv’s relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan;

– play into the hands of Russia, which is interested in destabilising the region and creating additional points of tension.

The Ukrainian intelligence service urges not to fall for enemy information provocations and to trust only official sources.
