The dollar continued to rise on the interbank market, while the NBU slightly weakened the hryvnia

The dollar rose by 8 kopecks on the interbank market, reaching 41.60-41.63 UAH/USD on Tuesday, 18 February. This followed a steady rise in the hryvnia over the previous two days.

The National Bank of Ukraine has slightly depreciated the national currency. The official exchange rate for 19 February was set at UAH 41.5705 per dollar, up 1.51 kopecks from the previous day. At the same time, the euro dropped by 5.07 kopecks to UAH 43.4661 per euro.

In exchange offices, the average selling rate for the dollar dropped by 10 kopecks to UAH 41.80.

Last week, Ukraine saw increased demand for foreign currency. Between 10 and 14 February, the NBU sold $670.10 million on the interbank market, up 47% from a week earlier.

In addition, in January, Ukraine’s international reserves decreased by 1.8%, or $785 million. As of 1 February, they stood at $43bn.
