The Arab media is actively discussing the possible successor to Hashim Safa al-Din, who was recently elevated to the status of potential leader of Hezbollah, although the group has not yet confirmed his death. An important figure mentioned among the candidates is Ibrahim Amin al-Sayed, the head of the organisation’s political council.
Al-Sayyid, who is one of the founders of Hezbollah, has traditionally been responsible for political issues, but also has experience in military affairs. This makes him one of the most promising candidates for the new leader.
After the information about al-Sayed’s possible candidacy appeared, rumours began to spread in the Arab segment of the Internet that he had resigned from his post and planned to go to Iran to devote himself to theology and prayers. However, Al-Arabia Now denied these claims, citing sources in Hezbollah. They claim that this is part of a psychological warfare against the organisation.
At the same time, Hezbollah’s press service emphasises that the group is currently under collective leadership. The situation leaves many questions as the future of the organisation, which plays an important role in the Middle East, remains uncertain. Time will tell whether the new leader, whoever it is, will be able to continue the legacy of Hassan Nasrallah.
