The US Suspends NOBLE PARTNER Exercises in Georgia Amid False Accusations and Political Instability

The United States has announced a comprehensive review of bilateral relations with Georgia, leading to the temporary suspension of the NOBLE PARTNER exercises, originally scheduled for July 25 – August 6, 2024. This decision came after the US government initiated a full review of cooperation with Georgia on May 30.

The postponement was triggered by the Georgian government’s false accusations against the US and other Western countries. The Georgian authorities claim that pressure is being exerted on them to open a second front against Russia, which they believe is connected to attempts to ease the pressure on Ukraine and support two coups against the ruling party. Under such conditions, Washington deemed it inappropriate to conduct large-scale military exercises.

Despite this, the US continues to support the Georgian Defense Forces and work on enhancing their ability to protect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“This decision was not taken lightly. We highly value the contributions of our allies and partners to exercises like NOBLE PARTNER,” stated the Pentagon. The US expressed hope for continued cooperation with Georgia and other allies in the future, including the AGILE SPIRIT exercises planned for 2025.
