New York, 12 February 2025 – A video of three Israeli hostages recently released by the Hamas terrorist group is being shown on an electronic scoreboard in Times Square in the centre of New York. The screen shows Ora Levy, Ohad Ben-Ami and Eli Sharabi, exhausted after their captivity, Newsru.co.il reports.
The accompanying caption to the video:
“Hamas are barbarians. Israeli hostages were starved and tortured”.
The video was also posted on the social media pages of Israeli diplomatic missions, including the Israeli Embassy in the United States.
“Is this 2025 or 1939?”
The Israeli Embassy in the United States made a strong statement:
“This footage reminds us of the darkest pages of Jewish history, but this time it’s not the Nazis, it’s Hamas.”
Israeli Consul in New York Ophir Akunis compared Hamas’ actions to Nazi crimes:
“Hamas is the heirs of the Nazis, and these images dispel any doubts. A copy of Hitler’s Mein Kampf was found at Hamas headquarters. The goal of Hamas, like the Nazis, is the destruction of the Jewish people. ‘Never again’ is now.”
Trump’s reaction: “Our patience has limits”
Earlier, US President Donald Trump also drew attention to the exhausted state of the released hostages, saying:
“They are in a terrible state, exhausted. I don’t know how much longer we will be able to tolerate this. At some point, our patience will run out.”
Methods of torture by starvation
According to doctors, Hamas used systematic starvation, which was painful but controlled. The terrorists made sure that the hostages received slightly more than a lethal level of calories to prevent them from dying of exhaustion.
This video in Times Square was another reminder to the world of Hamas’s brutality, as well as a signal that the situation around the Israeli hostages remains critical.
