Since the legalization of the gambling business in Ukraine and the strengthening of inspections, tax revenues from this industry have increased significantly. However, the current figures still do not meet the expectations set by the Verkhovna Rada.
Tax revenues from gambling business in 2024
In the first half of 2024, the gaming business contributed UAH 8.4 billion in taxes to the state treasury. This amount significantly exceeds the indicators of previous years. According to People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the changes look like this:
• 99 times more than in the first six months of the peaceful year 2021.
• 39 times more than in the same period of 2022.
• Three times more than last year.Expectations of deputies from gambling business
Despite the positive dynamics, the deputies believe that the current indicators are still far from the predicted ones. Yaroslav Zheleznyak noted:
"This is still not enough. Let me remind you that even a year ago taxes were estimated at at least 20 billion hryvnias per year. They don't make it until 17."Thus, in order to meet expectations based on the results of the next half-year, the gambling business must increase tax payments. Deputies hope that further development of the industry and strengthening of control will lead to an even greater increase in revenues to the budget.
