As reported by Serhiy Lysak from the Dnipro Regional Administration (OVA), Nikopol is facing a dire situation following an artillery attack on the city. The attack, carried out by occupying forces, resulted in the deaths of two women—a mother and her daughter. The mother was 40 years old, and the daughter was 72, having celebrated her birthday today. This tragedy has evoked deep sympathy and outrage within the Ukrainian community.
Russian troops shelled Nikopol with dozens of artillery shells, causing extensive damage to the city. The artillery attack left high-rise buildings in ruins, damaged private homes, and severely affected a fire station, college, school, and buses. A balcony in one of the high-rise buildings caught fire, further complicating the situation.
In addition to the tragic losses, there is also a survivor. A 46-year-old man sustained injuries but, fortunately, his life is not in danger. He is receiving outpatient treatment.
This event serves as a stark reminder of the human cost of war and the immense suffering of civilians. The city and its residents are in urgent need of support and assistance to recover from the destruction and endure this difficult time.
