Washington, 24 February 2025 – US President Donald Trump has announced his readiness to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House “this week or next week” to sign a strategic agreement on the use of Ukrainian minerals. This was reported by Yevropeiska Pravda, citing Trump’s words during his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
“In fact, he could come this week or next week to sign the agreement (on minerals – ed.). That would be great. I would love to meet with him. We’ll have a meeting in the Oval Office, ” Trump told reporters.
What do the US and Ukraine agree on?
Trump confirmed that Kyiv and Washington are “very close to finalising” the terms of an agreement on the extraction and use of Ukrainian rare earth metals and other strategically important resources.
“He (Zelenskyy) wants to come to sign the agreement, and I’m glad about that. Then the document has to be approved by the Rada or another body, but I’m confident that will happen,” Trump added.
