US President Donald Trump has announced a successful air operation against three nuclear facilities in Iran. He announced this on his own social network Truth Social.
According to the head of the White House, US bombers struck key Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan.
“We have completed our very successful attack on three nuclear facilities in Iran… All aircraft are now outside Iranian airspace,” Trump said.
In particular, a “full payload of bombs” was dropped on the Fordo nuclear facility, which is considered one of the most secure in the country. The US President stressed that all the aircraft returned to their bases without any losses.
“Congratulations to our great American warriors. There is no other army in the world that can do this. Now is the time for peace!” he wrote.
At 22:00 Washington time (05:00 Kyiv time), Trump will address the nation on the events. In his announcement of the speech, he called the strike “a historic moment for the United States, Israel and the world”.
The President also stressed that Iran “must immediately agree to end this war”, hinting at further demands on the regime in Tehran.
Analysts expect that this strike will significantly change the balance of power in the region and is likely to push Iran to either retaliate or to start new negotiations on Western terms. Previous Israeli attacks have already severely damaged Iran’s uranium enrichment infrastructure, and now US strikes could finally disable key elements of the nuclear programme.
